KVIKS Creative operates the KVIKS Makerspace which includes digital design, banner production, laser and 3D printing, embroidery, vinyl cutting, and much more. Creative offers students the chance to express themselves freely in different art forms while creating work to help support the school.
Learning Objectives
Students will develop proficiency in using graphic design software for creating visually appealing digital media materials.
Creative Activities
Utilizing Canva, Photoshop and Digital Drawing Applications, art and infographics can be made professionally for a variety of cases. Students can create graphics for the KVIKS News Bulletin, our KVIKS Spotlight magazine, the website, social media and banners.
Training Offered
PEER: As graphics are needed, those interested are usually asked to create something to the best of their ability, then their peers who are proficient in the software will provide adequate feedback to encourage improvements.
SELF: Students can utilize the internet to improve their skills. KVIKS is all about opportunity, art is subjective, therefore, students should work towards improving their skills at all time.
DEDICATED TRAINING: When it comes to the banner equipment, specific training is provided for using that equipment.
Activity Roles
Creative Crew – Students who select creative crew as their secondary role are interested in the equipment used in the KVIKS Media maker space. They do not have to have an interest in all of the equipment, but they must be trained on how to fold, weld, and grommet banners and any other equipment of interest.
Creative Leadership Roles
Creative Coordinator – The creative coordinator is responsible for all the makerspace equipment that KVIKS Creative uses such as the vinyl banner printer, vinyl cutter, laser engraver, 3D Printer, embroidery machine, and dye sublimation equipment. They will be responsible for organizing and training Creative Specialists and Crew. They also will be responsible for ensuring all Creative projects are completed.
Creative Specialist – Creative Specialists know how to use each piece of equipment in the KVIKS Media makerspace such as the vinyl banner printer, vinyl cutter, laser engraver, 3D Printer, embroidery machine, and dye sublimation equipment. They can assist with training Creative Crew members on how to use the equipment. Creative Specialists must be available at least twice a week to complete assignments or work on personal projects that help them refine their skills on the equipment.
