On January 24, 2023, the Hilo High School Foundation sent out the first issue of The Viking Times, a newsletter dedicated to Hilo High School Alumni and current events relating to Hilo High School. KVIKS Media was mentioned in this first newsletter. The excerpt from the newsletter says:
The Hilo High School Foundation has contributed more than $20k to support the KVIKS Media program at Hilo High School. This contribution has allowed KVIKS Media to jumpstart their broadcast program and deliver industry-level quality broadcasts for the school and community. KVIKS Media recently purchased new industry-level equipment, including Blackmagic URSA cameras and a new switcher.
Reana Lagronio, Hilo High School student and KVIKS Media broadcasting executive producer, said:
“using the new equipment feels very professional and we all feel more prepared for the real world.”
Thank you to the Hilo High School Foundation for their generous donation to the KVIKS program. Everyone is so welcoming and I have learned and grown a lot through KVIKS. In addition to video production, I also get to help with social media for Hilo High School and it’s a really great experience.This has helped me branch out in understanding digital media.
